In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 31-year-old actor gushed about the 32-year-old singer-songwriter’s achievement the night before she gave the commencement speech at NYU and accepts an honorary doctorate of fine arts from the prestigious university.

“It’s an incredible honor,” the Conversations With Friends star told the outlet on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Taylor addressed the 2020, 2021 and 2022 graduates, who were honored in an oversized ceremony due to prior COVID restrictions.

The Love Story hitmaker gave a well-received 25-minute speech in which she encouraged students to come to terms with their mistakes and embarrassments.

She also expressed her gratitude to the university for honoring her with the doctorate.

“I would like to thank NYU for technically, on paper at least, making me a doctor,” Taylor said.

“Not the kind of doctor you want to have in an emergency, unless your specific emergency is that you desperately need to hear a song with a catchy hook and an intensely cathartic bridge section.

Swift then thanked her parents and brother Austin for supporting her dreams and urged all other graduates to show their gratitude to anyone who helped them on their way, or to remember them if they had since passed away.

In March, NYU announced that Taylor would give the commencement address and be awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree.

In a 73-question interview with Vogue in 2016, the I Knew You Were Trouble singer previously said she hoped to receive an honorary doctorate.

She told the outlet, “I really want an honorary doctorate because Ed Sheeran has one, and I feel like he looks down on me now because I don’t.”
