Disney+ is working on a ‘Daredevil’ series

daredevil fans who were disappointed when Netflix ended the popular show after three seasons now have something to look forward to. Disney+ is moving forward with its own series about blind lawyer-turned-superhero Matt Murdock, Variety. The streaming service has signed co-writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord to write and executive produce the series. Corman and Ord as co-showrunners for NBC military drama The braveand the duo also created the spy drama Secret Affairs.

daredevil is just the latest in a slew of MCU titles that have been relaunched on Disney+ as shows, starting last year. Wanda Vision. The streamer has since released six other Marvel shows, including Hawk Eye, moon knight and Loki, to follow this year. Meanwhile, Netflix’s series of shows based on Marvel characters have all left the streaming platform’s library for good.

Charlie Cox, who played the titular character in the Netflix series, returned to his old role in this year and Vincent D’Onofrio resumed his daredevil role of Kingpin in Disney’s Hawk Eye. The two actors seemed to be talking about a Disney+ revival of the series, but it’s unclear if they’ll be returning to the new series.

In an interview with Marvel News Desk, D’Onofrio shed some light on the sudden cancellation of the Netflix show, which shocked his many fans. The actor said the show’s departure in 2018 was likely related to Marvel paving the way for Disney’s fledgling streaming service. “You know, as the #SaveDaredevil group started to rise, we started to understand the reasons why this happened and so we understood what Marvel has been doing since the release of Disney+.”
