Johnny Depp’s attorney has pushed back against an expert’s assessment of Amber Heard’s career and her comparison to actors like Jason Momoa, Zendaya and Gal Gadot.
In the lawsuit where Mr Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation, entertainment consultant Kathryn Arnold said Ms Heard could enjoy the same professional success as Gadot, Momoa and Zendaya were it not for the alleged “smear campaign of Team Depp against her.
“When you look at the time frame that Waldman’s statements came out [in 2020]and you look at what was happening in Ms. Heard’s career before the statement and what happened after the statement, it’s very clear to make that correlation,” Ms. Arnold said in court on Monday, May 23.
“It would have been very reasonable to believe that his career would have been on an upward trajectory from these other actors had it not been for the hoax allegations.”
Adam Waldman accused Heard of orchestrating an “abuse hoax” in an interview with the Daily mail in 2020.
Ms Arnold added that Ms Heard’s career “was on a very nice steady rise and was on the verge of a meteoric rise with Aquaman and Aquaman 2before the [defamatory] statements”.
On cross-examination, Mr. Depp’s lawyers pushed back against Ms. Arnold’s comparison.
the Pirates of the Caribbean The star’s team claimed Ms Arnold’s comparison between Ms Heard and the aforementioned actors was far from accurate, as all were either signed up to successful franchises or had higher-profile careers than Ms Heard in 2020 .
Last week, Ms Heard said her role in Aquaman 2 was significantly reduced amid her battle with Mr. Depp.
Speaking in court, the actor said: “I fought very hard to stay in the film. They didn’t want to include me in the film.

She added: “I was given a script and then new versions of the script which had removed scenes containing action. It depicted my character and another character, without revealing any spoilers, two characters fighting against each other. They basically took a bunch of my role. They just removed a bunch.
Ms. Heard says her role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomdue for release in 2023, was removed after Mr Depp’s team called its initial abuse allegations a “hoax”.
Speaking in Fairfax County, Virginia, Ms Heard said she was paid $1million for the first Aquaman film, in addition to a box office bonus, released in 2018. She added that her contract stipulated that she would earn $2 million for the second film.
When Ms Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, asked her if she had been able to find work since, Ms Heard replied: “I did a little independent film.”

While the legal proceedings are still ongoing, a number of public figures have expressed their support for Heard, with Julia Fox, Rachel Riley and Kathy Griffin among those who have spoken.
