Amber Heard’s team hit back after Kate Moss denies Johnny Depp pushed her down the stairs

A source close to Amber Heard has offered a firm response to Kate Moss by denying a claim that Johnny Depp pushed her down the stairs during their 1990s relationship.

Ms Moss gave evidence in the defamation lawsuit between Mr Depp and Ms Heard for just a few minutes on Wednesday via video link. She said she fell down a flight of stairs while on holiday with Mr Depp in Jamaica and he helped her up and looked after her at the time.

“We were leaving the room, Johnny left before me and there had been a rain storm,” she said. “Leaving the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back.

“I screamed, because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and took me back to my room and treated me.

Asked about the overall relationship, which lasted from 1994 to 1998, Ms Moss said: ‘He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.

The defense declined to cross-examine Ms. Moss.

After her testimony ended, a source close to Ms Heard said The Independent: “So Johnny Depp didn’t abuse Kate Moss. That makes him one in two in the abuse column.

“But, to date, he is zero to one in the courtroom on the central issue of this case when he lost the exact same case in England. And when the jury deliberates on the singular issue of this case — whether Amber Heard can exercise her right to free speech — it will suck for two, no matter how hard her lawyers try to distract and distract from the jury.

Ms Moss’ name came up in the courtroom earlier this month during Ms Heard’s testimony, when she described a time when Mr Depp allegedly “[swung] to » her sister as she turned her back to a staircase.

Ms Heard said it reminded her of another incident in which she alleges Mr Depp pushed Ms Moss down the stairs when they were dating in the 1990s.

“I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and the stairs,” Ms Heard said.

the Aquaman the actor previously made that claim during Mr. Depp’s 2020 lawsuit against The sun in the UK, according to the Associated Press: “He was about to push her down the stairs and the moment before it happened I remembered reports I had heard that he had pushed a former girlfriend – I believe it was Kate Moss – on the stairs.”

Ms Moss and Mr Depp dated for approximately four years from 1994. Their relationship has often been described by the press as tumultuous, particularly after an incident in 1994 when Mr Depp was arrested on criminal mischief charges after allegedly ransacked a hotel room he shared with Ms. Moss. , People reported.

Until her testimony on Wednesday, Ms Moss had never publicly responded to Ms Heard’s claim that Mr Depp pushed her down the stairs – which he denies.

After Ms Heard mentioned Ms Moss in her testimony in the US case, Mr Depp’s lawyer, Ben Chew, was seen giving an apparent punch, suggesting that the mention of Ms. Moss could benefit Mr. Depp’s legal team in one way or another.

Broderick Dunn, a Virginia-based attorney, told Fox5 that “since Heard brought up Depp’s alleged past bad deeds, she may have opened the door to her own,” according to the website.

That speculation came to fruition on May 17 during Ms Heard’s cross-examination, where she was asked about a 2009 domestic violence arrest involving her then-partner Tasya van Ree.

The alleged incident was reported in 2016 by TMZ, which wrote that Ms Heard “allegedly grabbed and punched [Ms van Ree] in the arm, which upset [Ms van Ree] and triggered the arrest”.

The prosecution declined to press charges when Ms Heard appeared in court the following day, People reported in 2016.

Ms van Ree in 2016 shared a statement with Variety which read: “In 2009, Amber was wrongly accused of an incident that was misinterpreted and overly sensationalized by two people in positions of power.”

When questioned in court, Ms Heard denied committing domestic violence against Ms van Ree or assaulting her. She alleged the story was “planted” after she secured a temporary restraining order against Mr Depp in 2016.
