Star Wars Celebration gave attendees a first look at upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka and teased live-action versions of Sabine Wren, Chopper and Hera Syndulla from Star Wars Rebels will be part of the series, and with a mural by Ezra Bridger in the series, there is a good chance that he will also appear.
While the general public will have to wait to see footage of Ahsoka, IGN was on hand and can share that it starts with Ahsoka on the bridge of the Ghost and she’s joined by Hera Syndulla, although we only see her from behind. . We also get what appears to be a live-action re-enactment of the Star Wars Rebels final scene, and get a look at Sabine Wren from behind looking at a mural that includes an illustrated Ezra Bridger.
It has also been confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play the live-action version of Sabine Wren. Bordizzo also stopped by Star Wars Celebration and shared a bit about how much the role means to her.
Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla and Chopper from Star Wars Rebels
“I could say so many things,” Bordizzo said. “I feel like I’ve just been adopted into a new family. I feel that for everyone I work with, but also for the fans. It’s just the most welcoming, the most creative… I mean, I’ve never experienced anything like it. The set is going really well.
“I know how much Sabine means to a lot of people in this room, and I know how much she means to Dave and I think you’re going to be really excited about the journey that she’s about to have.”
All of these characters were first introduced in Star Wars Rebels, and their stories will continue when Ahsoka arrives in 2023.
Ezra Bridger was the main character of Star Wars Rebels and was born on Lothal and became a bit of a thief and a trickster. His journey would lead him to the crew of the Ghost, which also included Hera, Sabine, Chopper, and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios. Kanan Jarrus was also a member of the crew and taught Ezra the ways of the Jedi. At the end of Rebels, Ezra was with Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ahsoka and Sabine were preparing to search for him.
Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian warrior and graffiti artist who claimed the Darksaber and used it to rally her people against Viceroy Gar Saxon. She then gave the Darksaber to Bo-Katan Kryze before it was taken by Moff Gideon and then Din Djarin.
Hera was the captain of the Ghost and is one of the finest pilots in this galaxy far, far away. Both Hera and Chopper were small parts of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
This news from Ahsoka was just one of many Star Wars Celebration reveals so far, and joins Star Wars’ Andor release date and first trailer, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew announcement featuring Jude Law, the official trailer for Willow, the first image from Indiana Jones 5, and confirmation that The Mandalorian season three and Ahsoka’s premiere will arrive in 2023.
