It would have been very hard to top the mega outburst of love that followed Her Majesty when she appeared in a parody of a ‘James Bond’ sketch with Daniel Craig for the 2012 games, but she did it at new – a brilliant opening with Paddington Bear – a huge favorite with the Queen and Princess Charlotte, which really got the whole party going at the Palace. Then bang, the brilliant Brian May, Roger Taylor and Adam Lambert shook the floor with an explosive performance.

The Royal Family were out in force tonight with tens of thousands of fans at the Party at the Palace event, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were missing.

The concert is the culmination of the third day of public events to mark the 96-year-old monarch’s record-breaking platinum jubilee with a record 22,000 in person attendance outside Buckingham Palace.

Motown legend Diana Ross performed in Britain for the first time in 15 years. She was the star attraction at the event, which took place on a purpose-built 360-degree stage outside the Queen’s residence in central London.

Among the royal attendees at Saturday’s live Jubilee concert, held outside Buckingham Palace, were the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Plus, the very first time Princess Charlotte.

QUEEN ELIZABETH’S JUBILEE: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE ‘PLATINUM PARTY AT THE PALACE’

Prince George looked tall and dapper, and of course, with the cheeky air of being slightly awkward around his mom and dad, which was fun to watch.

Prince Charles and Prince William took to the stage in front of a crowd of 22,000 to pay their respects to the Queen during the star-studded Jubilee concert – proving that whatever the media says, the royal family is more popular than ever – and this event really showed the mega success of the Jubilee so far.

Other members of the Royal Family included the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn, the Princess Royal and Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and the Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack.

The show was a fabulous array of stars and wonderful messages, but one of the biggest cheers of the night came from former US First Lady Michelle Obama speaking so kindly about the monarch.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte along with Kate and William really enjoyed the singing element of the show and looked so happy and really enjoying such a wonderful high profile event. What was interesting is that after a while, Charlotte started to get a little tired and looked at mom who was smiling and whispering something in her ear which pleased the child who endlessly sat up.

What about the huge star acclaim for Rod Stewart? He is a mega royal favorite for William who dedicated Rod’s hit ‘You’re in my Heart’ to his marriage to Kate.

Ross shone like a real star giving the crowd what they wanted, which was his mega hit chain and how they coated it.

British stars like Craig David told me: “I haven’t been that nervous. To be honest, I never think, but you want to do your best, don’t you, and yes, I hope they will sing with you.” Rest assured, Craig, they did.

Classy star Nile Rogers told me backstage that “career-wise, honestly Neil is the ultimate, there’s nothing bigger than what I’m doing right now.” Chic turns out to be a royal family favorite as Catherine used to dance on a chair all through the hits section of Nile.

Duran Duran, one of the late Princess Diana’s favorites, no doubt touched William, as the band told me backstage that his ringing endorsement of the band early in their career really gave the huge hit thanks to her star power in the US and “we’ve always been so grateful for that, but we know she loved our music, which was just a thrill.”

‘Harry Potter’ actor Stephen Fry bombarded with his joke directed at the government and it proved very awkward as he looked towards the Royal Box which was in chat mode with Prime Minister Boris Johnson so not much time to attack him on stage to a global audience. As one guest told me, “He talks about mental health and depression, then bullies the Prime Minister on stage.”

The big hit of the concert was undoubtedly American singing legend Diana Ross.

Diana, who took the stage in an incredible black and white tulle dress at Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee for her first UK performance in 15 years, created a huge storm and the crowd was gone crazy, I mean really crazy, including Catherine who clearly is a fan after all, we’ve seen her sing along to all the hits including the number one hit “Chain Reaction”.

Another on-camera legend was Sound of Music star Dame Julie Andrews, who got her royal break in 1948 on the Royal Command show by singing for Queen George’s father, the national anthem, and the one that we know Her Majesty really enjoyed it after all she was there too sitting in the box. Dolly Parton was very well received and the country diva particularly moved Prince Charles who is a big fan of Dolly.

Who was the real star of the show? She must be the queen – nothing could top the opening sketch and at 96 she never fails to surprise. Seeing the joy on Princess Charlotte’s face when she saw the Queen with Paddington on the big screen was magical and how it will make a lasting memory for her and Prince George.

It was royal history in the making right here at Buckingham Palace and I am delighted to be able to share with you my memories of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Finally, it was a test event for Prince William, speaking to crowds and huge global audiences must have been terrifying. On previous occasions he would have turned to his younger brother Harry for help, but while Prince William spoke with grace and candor, I’m told the person who wanted to impress the most was his father, the Prince Charles, who wiped away a tear as his son spoke.

Beaming Catherine with George gazing admiringly at her father. I wonder what Prince George really thinks of all this at such a young age, but Prince William will one day be our king and he has made us and the world proud.
