Cyberpunk 2077 Animated Trailer For Netflix Looks Amazing

Netflix just released the first trailer for its anime series based on Cyberpunk 2077. Whatever complaints you might have about the game, you might want to leave them at the door.

This is Cyberpunk: Edge Runnersa 10-part standalone anime series where CDPR developers are heavily involved, but the animation itself is handled by Studio Trigger, which you might know from stuff like kill her kill her and Little Witch Academy.

This looks cooler than anything I’ve ever done in gaming:

Here’s the official description and list of people involved, courtesy of Netflix::

The series tells a 10-episode standalone story about a street kid trying to survive Night City – a city of the future obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk. CD PROJEKT RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series with Rafał Jaki (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher: Ronin) as Showrunner and Executive Producer, along with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor and Saya Ancien serving as producers. CD PROJEKT RED team has been working on this new series since 2018. Renowned Japan-based animation company Studio Trigger will serve as the animation studio on the series and will bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with its signature vibrant style. . Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will helm the series with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) , and the screenplay adaptation by Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’). The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).

The series will launch in September.
