Jennifer Lopez was apparently not happy to share a stage with Shakira – and now their respective fanbases are having a debate… who is the bigger superstar between the two?
The question was posed through a statement on Twitter, which has since taken off and gone viral – with tons of people responding with their own takes. OG’s opinion read, “Shakira has never been bigger than J Lo EVER in her career 😂😂😂😂😂😂 and I love Shakira.”
The reason this is being discussed is because of that new J Lo doc, “Halftime,” which premiered in Tribeca… where Jenny expresses some serious sour grapes about her Super Bowl gig.
According to reports, the BTS film documents what happened in the halftime show that Jennifer and Shakira co-starred in 2020 …and Jen would have said, “It’s the worst idea in the world to have two people for the Super Bowl… the worst idea in the world.”
She is further described as having flare-ups with Shakira herself – who during rehearsals stressed the importance of incorporating their songs into the performance, per NFL advice… to which Jennifer allegedly said, “If It was going to be a double headliner, they should have given us 20 minutes. That’s what they should have done.”
Her manager, Benny Medina, hits the point in the film – saying, “It was an insult to think you needed two Latinas to do the job that an artist has historically done.”
And that’s where Saturday’s convo picks up…with LOTS of people claiming that Shakira is actually the true global icon that Jen and her team seem to think she is – at least that’s what users of the bird app seem to suggest with some cute fiery memes.
If you get into the “J Lo” trend right now… you’ll see people fully defending Shakira, pointing out the accolades and record sales (worldwide) she has over Jen.
Some even say that the Jen is not even famous here in the United States for her music, but more so… her beauty, her body and/or her loved ones. What is interesting.
Anyway, there’s a bit of a backlash against Jennifer’s brutal honesty about how she felt about being paired with Shakira… some see it as Jen getting off the title a bit, and a sort of diva (in a bad way). Meanwhile, others give Jen props to keep it real.
Who is the biggest star in the world???
Still, you have to ask the question since she’s here now… is Twitter right about Shakira’s global star power, especially against that of Jennifer Lopez??? Hmm …
