COLLEGE STATION, Texas — No. 5 Texas A&M has yet to lose a playoff game, and Louisville Baseball couldn’t change that.
The No. 12 Cardinals fell to the Aggies 4-3 in Game 2 of an NCAA Super Regional Tournament, finishing the year with a 42-21-1 record. After losing 2-0 after the first two sets, TAMU tied the game twice at 2-2 and 3-3 before taking a 4-3 lead in the seventh set.
Louisville struggled to drive in runs, leaving 10 batters on base, including Christian Knapczyk, who was in scoring position late in the ninth inning when relief pitcher Jacob Palisch retired Jack Payton to end the game.
Less than 24 hours ago, the Aggies rallied from a 4-2 deficit early Saturday morning and won Game 1 with a two-out single to right fielder Troy Claunch in the bottom of the ninth inning.
