UPDATE: More details have emerged of the crash that claimed the lives of two actors and injured six crew members in Mexico while filming the Netflix series The chosen.
Production on the series has been temporarily halted by Redrum, the company handling filming. The accident happened while the victims were in transit to the local airport on June 16. The injured actors are in stable condition.
Netflix has yet to comment on the accident.
EARLIER: Crew members were riding in a van when it crashed and rolled over in an accident near the set of the Netflix series The chosen.
The crash left two dead and six other crew members injured, officials said. The victims were not initially identified. The Baja California Department of Culture later said Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar died.
The accident happened on a deserted road near Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula.
The team was filming in the nearby town of Santa Rosalia.
The chosen The series is about a 12-year-old boy who learns that he is the return of Jesus Christ, destined to save mankind. It is based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.
The series is filmed by an unidentified independent production company. Officials had no information on whether production would be affected by the accident.
