THE WORLD OF SWAY
Jussie Smollet still insists he didn’t lie about the homophobic and racist attack, because if he did he’d be a total asshole – and he claims everyone knows he didn’t. is not that.
The actor dug his heels Wednesday morning on To balance‘s SiriusXM show, explaining why he feels like he got screwed over in court. According to Jussie, if you buy what the jury said — that he outright lied — it would mean we’ve all found out that “someone is the exact opposite of who they say they are.”
No arguments there.
However, he went on to explain that committing such a nefarious lie would mean he had exploited the pain and fears of black people and the LGBTQ community – and Jussie says, “I’m not that motherfucker.”
Of course, his startling statement flies in the face of all the evidence presented in Cook County Court before he was convicted and sentencedin March, 150 days.

Speaking of which, Jussie also opened up about his time behind bars… explaining why he stopped eating all the time he was in the Cook County Jail.
He says fasting is something his family always does to gain clarity, and he wasn’t sure how long he was being held. Remember, despite the 150-day sentence, Jussie had immediately asked the judge to release him on bail as he appealed.

Jussie says: “I have never had a clearer mind in my life, at least in my adult life, than during those 6 and a half days.”
What’s unclear in Jussie’s clarity is how long he would have continued to fast if the judge hadn’t let him outand also … what exactly he gained clarity on during this time.
Either way, he says he won’t allow Hollywood studios or casting directors to derail his career in the future – he has a plan for that. What he didn’t address is what happens if his appeal fails and he has to go back to jail and finish his sentence.
