Serena Williams looks in great shape as she shows off her backhand ahead of Wimbledon

Serena Williams looked in top form on Saturday as she showed off her backhand during a training session at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.

The American tennis ace, 40, also sported black tape across her face as she prepared to compete in the Wimbledon tennis tournament after earning a ladies’ singles wildcard.

Serena, who was forced to withdraw from the first round of the Championships due to injury last year, wears medical tape on her face as it helps relieve pressure and pain from her sinus issues.

And it looks like the sinus relief was certainly a good cry as she looked more ready than ever to take on her opponent at the prestigious tournament.

The star wore tennis whites for the workout, pairing a white Nike long sleeve top with a matching pleated tennis dress.

Serena teamed her look with white socks and trainers and shielded her eyes from the sun with a coordinating white visor.

The mother-of-one, who swept her curly locks into a high ponytail, was in high spirits when she was seen smiling during her session on the court.

She was even seen having fun with a member of her team, who kindly applied sunscreen to her face.

The training session comes days after Serena thrilled crowds at Eastbourne on Tuesday night as she teamed up with Ons Jabeur to emerge victorious in her first match since exiting Wimbledon last year.

Williams was clearly thrilled after the scratch duo overcame Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova 3-6 6-3 13-11 in a tiebreak tiebreak for the champions.

However, she was unwilling to look beyond her appointment to the All England Club next week, who will surely feel more comfortable after undergoing excellent training.

‘Oh my god, it was so much fun playing with Ons. It was great. We had a lot of fun,” Williams said. “I literally take it one day at a time. I don’t make any decisions after that.

“I love tennis and I love playing, but I also love what I do off the court.”

She was shy about a lot of the preparation she did for this trip. “I’ve been training a lot, my body feels good,” she added, after admitting she had gone “cold turkey” after suffering an injury at SW19 a year ago.

Meanwhile, away from court, Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian shone with pride when their four-year-old daughter Olympia hit another milestone earlier this month.

Alexis, who co-founded Reddit, posted a heartwarming family photo on Instagram and gushed, “First ballet recital for @olympiaohanian in the books.”

The sweet snap showed Alexis beaming as Serena cradled their baby girl, who was still wearing her tutu from her big performance.

Olympia’s parents apparently showered her with praise after the recital, as both carried bouquets in her honor.

The little boy, whose full name is Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., was celebrating his latest achievement with a ring pop.
