The cause of Travis Barker’s emergency trip to the hospital on Tuesday is believed to be pancreatitis, which doctors believe was triggered by a colonoscopy.
According to TMZ, multiple sources connected to the family confirmed that the hospitalization was the result of an inflammation of the pancreas which includes symptoms such as nausea, severe stomach pain and vomiting. There are no details on when Barker had the colonoscopy, but TMZ reports it was “recent.”
The 46-year-old Blink-182 drummer and husband of Kourtney Kardashian was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for further care after his first visit to West Hills Hospital and Medical Center on Tuesday.
His daughter, Alabama Barker, shared an ominous message through her Instagram Story the same day, asking fans to “Please send your prayers.” She also uploaded and then quickly deleted a TikTok with the caption “Please say a prayer”, of her holding her father’s hand as he lay in a hospital bed. The photo showed the drummer with hospital bands on both wrists, holding his phone in his right hand and wearing a black wrist brace on his left.
Barker’s medical history involves illnesses like staph infection and cellulitis, which is a bacterial infection that can cause swelling, inflammation, and pain. In 2018, he suffered blood clots in his arms, forcing a series of shows at Blink-182’s Las Vegas residency to be canceled. Additionally, in 2008, Barker endured the traumatic experience of a plane crash that claimed the lives of six people; he previously explained how the accident left him with third-degree burns all over his body.
For nearly three decades, Barker has been a mainstay in the music industry. His most recent collaborations include Machine Gun Kelly and Post Malone. Lately, the musician has been all the rage for his relationship with Kardashian, which was documented on the first season of Hulu’s “The Kardashians” last year. The couple married in Italy in early May.
Representatives for Barker and Kardashian were not immediately available for comment.
